Going desi in Kerala!

Kerala- the land of lush green trees and backwaters.Love the serenity and the beauty of the place.India has a vast culture and amazing places.Kerala just being one of India’s vast treasure.Kereala is also called Venice of India and aptly so.

The moment you enter Kerala you are one under huge umbrella of trees on every street except  the market places which have been commercialised.I have been to Kerala a number of times and wouldn’t mind owning a house in Allepey where life seems to be surrounded by water. On my trip to Kovalam,Kerala I decided to go desi.Kereala being a bit hot n humid in summers, cotton fitted perfectly for the weather.

I love Global Desi for its ethnic yet contemporary collection. The summer collection had a blast of colours in the tops and dresses.I had picked up this kurti which I wore as a dress.I loved the soothing blue with a hint of green, perfect for Kerala. It has a thin strap and is almost like a tube kurti.

20120511-IMG_5658It has silver lace  on the neck and bottom which gives it an edge and makes it a bit classy.I threw a stoll around my neck.

20120511-IMG_5671I am a stoll girl,I love wearing stolls and can wear them with almost anything. They look super cool to me.This one went pretty well with the dress. The bangles and the earings are from Delhi.I prefer to travel light so the flats are the same for both the dresses. The flats are again from Bandra,Bombay from my fav shop 🙂

The dress definitely made some heads turn 😛

The kurti is super comfortable and breezy. It can be worn on leggings with a chunni and denim.I am yet to wear it in a proper Indian style.

20120511-IMG_5747The other dress has a splash of colours on it.It has almost all the bright colours.I loved it when I saw it on the posters.Sadly it wasn’t available in the stores. But to my luck it was available online and I ordered without trying it out.I was very nervous about the fitting as the neck is criss crossed at the back but it fitted perfectly 🙂

Antia Dongre has used 2 fabrics for the dress. The green one is cotton with prints and the upper part is raw silk with embroidery on it.The back is criss crossed with thin purple straps.

The dress looked bright and lively on the green background of trees. The dress attracted a lot of attention from all my friends.

The flats are the same. The neck piece is from Jaipur. It is handmade and was sold on the street by a man,I loved the colour and the use of shells and a big mirror as a pendant 🙂

20120512-IMG_5867Loved wearing these breezy dresses.Comfortable dressing makes your travel a lot more fun. These dresses did complete justice to the trip. They looked vibrant, stylish and gave me the ethnic yet contemporary look.
